On the 31st of October the Chamber of Mines of Mozambique alongside IGREME (Inspectors Angelo Pinto & Rui Silva), The SA-German Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Mozambique (Holger Hey), BGR (Malte Drobe) and representatives of 16 Mining Cooperatives from Manica & Tete visited the Nhamize Mining Cooperative in Tete. Furthermore, the purpose of the visit was to teach and conduct simulations on mine safety and mine rescue for artisanal small scale miners (ASMs).
The ASMs were taught and shown every day equipment that may be adapted in case of collapse of the entry/exit point’s, e.g. a water hose can be used for communication, pour water and breathing should someone find themselves trapped underground. Moreover, the ASMs were encouraged to have more than one entry/exit points.
