Existing infrastructure is allowing coal production to remain stable, but the energy transition is making it challenging to attract financing for new projects

In an interview conducted by The Energy, the PCA of Mozambique's Chamber of Mines, Geert Klok, highlighted Mozambique's mining potential and favorable geographical location "The country boasts a diverse range of resources that include traditional minerals such as coal, critical raw materials such as graphite and precious metals and stones such as gold and rubies. Much wealth remains untapped, and there are exciting opportunities for new mining ventures."

However, when asked about the challenges facing Mozambique's mining sector, Klok said the following 
"The infrastructure along Mozambique's main transportation corridor needs to be strengthened. Given the vast size of the country, road construction and regular maintenance are essential. Access to electricity is also a problem, as many mining companies operate in remote areas."
